Twikka is for getting active and staying active, and for many people that’s easier with someone else: an accountability partner, or a small group starting together. These guidelines keep pairs and groups friendly, safe and useful for everyone. They apply to everything you share in Twikka: messages, photos, reactions and your profile. They’re part of our Terms and Conditions.

Be kind

  • Encourage, don’t judge. Everyone starts somewhere, and a missed week isn’t a failure: coming back is part of it.
  • No put-downs, mocking, bullying or harassment, including about anyone’s body, size, age, ability or pace.
  • Celebrate turning up, not who did more. Twikka isn’t a competition.

Keep it about getting active

Talk about moving, your plans, what helped and what got in the way, and the bits of everyday life that go with it. Leave long debates, politics and anything unrelated to the group for other places.

Share experience, not medical advice

  • It’s fine to say what worked for you. Please don’t tell others what to do about a health condition, injury, medicine or diet.
  • For health questions, ask your coach, or a doctor, physiotherapist or other health professional.
  • Twikka’s coaches are AI. They aren’t doctors, and they can’t help in an emergency.

Look after each other

  • If someone seems to be struggling or at risk, report their message as “Worried about someone”. A member of our team will look at it and can reach out to them.
  • If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number now.

Respect privacy

  • Don’t share anyone else’s personal details: their full name, address, phone number, workplace or exact location.
  • What’s said in a pair or group stays there. Don’t share screenshots or messages elsewhere without everyone’s permission.
  • Only share photos of other people if they’ve said yes.
  • If you meet up in person, meet somewhere public, and let someone know where you’ll be.

Keep it suitable

These aren’t allowed in Twikka:

  • sexual content, or nudity (everyday activity photos are fine);
  • violence, threats or graphic images of injuries;
  • hate or discrimination against anyone for who they are;
  • anything illegal, or encouraging something dangerous, including extreme dieting or over-training;
  • pretending to be someone else.

No selling or spam

No advertising, selling, recruiting, fundraising, chain messages or links shared for gain. Twikka may share offers itself, clearly labelled.

What others see

  • Partners and group members see your first name and your photo, if you’ve added one.
  • They see which days you were active. They only see what you did, or for how long, if you choose to share it. You can change what you share with each pair or group at any time.
  • Your conversations with your own coach, and what your coach knows about you, are never shared.

Photos

  • Photos you share in a group are checked by our team before anyone else sees them. Until then you’ll see “Waiting for review”.
  • The app removes location and other details from a photo before it leaves your phone.

Coaches in groups

Each small group has a Twikka coach: an AI that welcomes people, suggests something to try each week, answers when you mention it, and keeps things friendly. It reads the group’s messages to do that. It never knows or mentions anything you’ve said to your own coach.

If something’s wrong

  • Mute a chat or a person if you need a break.
  • Block someone so they can’t contact you. They aren’t told that you blocked them.
  • Report a message, a photo or a person, from the message or their profile. Reports are confidential, and we look at every one.

When the guidelines are broken

Depending on what happened, we may:

  • remove a message or photo (you’ll see why);
  • send you a warning;
  • stop you posting in a group, or in all pairs and groups, for a while (you can still read them, and your coach is there as usual);
  • remove you from a group;
  • close your account, for serious or repeated breaches or anything illegal. We may report illegal content to the authorities.

We tell you what we did and why. If you think we got it wrong, email [email protected] and we’ll look again.
