About the Founder

Andrew’s Story

I’m a podiatrist by profession, with experience in both private practice and the academic world. I hold an honours degree, a postgraduate diploma, and a Master’s degree, and I am a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. I’m also a member of Sports Medicine Australia.

Alongside my clinical work, I’ve always had a strong interest in software and technology - something that’s run in parallel with my health career for years.

Over the past two decades, I’ve also taken on various governance roles. I’m currently Chair of Melville Cares, and have previously served as Chair of Advocare and as President of the Australasian Podiatry Council. I’ve always gravitated toward roles that serve the community and help improve people’s lives.

Early Days in Lycra

In my twenties, I worked in the fitness industry as an aerobics and gym instructor. It was a great way to meet people from all walks of life and see how movement can change lives - whether you're an elite athlete or just getting started.

While I admired the discipline of serious sportspeople, I was often more inspired by those who were taking their first steps. Starting from zero can be daunting, but those who stuck with it often saw incredible improvements - not just physically, but in confidence, mood and overall quality of life. Getting fitter, I learned, is one of those things that tends to sell itself.

Losing the Rhythm

Of course, life gets in the way. In my 30s and 40s, the demands of parenting, work, and a thousand small distractions led me to slow down and gain weight. Fitness isn’t something you can stash away for later - you have to keep working at it!

Only recently have I restarted my own journey toward better health. This time, I’m taking it gently, enjoying the process, and playing the long game.

Why Twikka?

After years of working one-on-one with patients, I wanted to be part of something that could reach more people - something that brought together my clinical experience, my background in tech, and my belief in practical, scientifically grounded solutions.

Twikka grew out of that desire: an app built not for elite athletes, but for real people who want to move more, feel better, and make it stick.

After a couple of years of refining the concept, Twikka is ready for the world - and I’m excited to see where it goes next!
